Community planting

on South Wonston Recreation ground

The borders of the Recreation ground will be managed to enhance biodiversity, adding more trees and wildflowers. In these margins the grass will generally be cut to a short sward, with mowing only every four to six weeks in the season. After a year or two, some smaller areas may also be left to grow long once the success of the altered management regime is appreciated. Meanwhile, the wildflowers that appear naturally will be complemented with others planted as bulbs or plugs.
